Well, I am still trying to write up various past days, and I must confess that I’m not being very successful at it! The days are just too busy, and I don’t like it when I end up falling way behind.

Anyway, on to a bit of what we did on our 27th day in Bangkok. We had heard about two additional malls that were a little bit outside the main central area, but not too far from the Chatuchak area.

We took the BTS from Phloen Chit to Ha Yeak Lat Phrao. Both malls are easily accessible from this station, and we walked along the skywalk to check out the first mall, which was Union Mall.

Union Mall opened in early 2006. It has eight floors with a total of 150,000 square metres of space. It houses some 1,240 booths, shops, and entertainment services. It’s a big mall, but there was also a lot of dead space on the upper floors. The actual shops were mainly like booths or pop-ups and quite similar to the ones that you can find at Platinum Fashion Mall and MBK. We did quite like the small art section, which we thought was interesting. Another key reason why we were keen to visit this mall was to see the shop that sells a huge range of noodles and where you can buy and make your own soup.

I should also note that, like a lot of malls, this one had some sort of celebrity visiting to promote something, and the place was very busy with people, especially young girls, all waiting to see the person.

However, overall, we were not that impressed and other than buying a few little items for Christmas Day decorations, we didn’t get anything else.

See video for an idea of what Union Mall is like.

After we left here, we walked back along the skywalkway and entered the Central Ladprao mall.

Central Ladprao is described as an "Urbanised Vibrant Lifestyle Mall" under the concept "Trend Eco and Modern Green," designed to cater to every lifestyle of the Ladprao Story. It features over 200 shops and restaurants, making it the largest shopping centre in the Ladprao area. This mall was absolutely packed with people. It was a Sunday, and it seemed like it was a family day out, with all the kids and grandparents. We struggled trying to get around the mall a bit, and we couldn’t even find a seat in the food hall; it was just too busy.

It’s not often we are defeated, but on this occasion, we had to admit that it was not working for us, so we decided to call it a day.

On our way home, we stopped off at the Central Embassy mall, and both had our delicious wanton and char sui pork soup as a much-needed late lunch.
