No, I’m not being dramatic in the slightest, my fellow Weggies (Glasgow slang for ‘Glaswegian’, or one from Glasgow, Scotland, for our non-Scottish readers). I certainly don’t mean to mislead or confuse you, and I am not lying. Today’s activity is to explore the Pavilion Shopping Mall, not the Pavilion Theatre, my dears.

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, also known as Pavilion KL, is a shopping centre situated in the Buki Bintang district in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It opened in 2007 and went through further development in 2016. It has a premier shopping centre, serviced and residential apartments, an office block and a 5-star hotel. It has eight shopping precincts and a row of street-front boutiques. The place is absolutely massive, and we were knackered by the time we finished covering it. Ultimately, it is just a huge shopping mall with every kind of shop you can imagine.

The mall itself is great in terms of size and the fact that it is air-conditioned. Although we did note that some areas on the upper levels were less well air-conditioned than other areas. Also, the restaurant that we had lunch in was absolutely Baltic, so I’m not sure if that was an AC issue or a deliberate attempt to ensure customers did not linger too long in their seats!

There are also plenty of food and dining options across the mall.

We had lunch in an Asian Fusion restaurant on one of the upper levels, which we noted was very busy with Chinese customers. We ordered their burgers, as we were both craving some chips and a bun for a change. We had also decided to order a toast dessert thing, and this was HUGE when it arrived! Of course, we did our best to demolish it.

As with all the malls and shops at present, the focus at the moment is on the Chinese New Year, which is coming up, so everything is decked out in red and gold colours, often with a horse theme involved somewhere too.

It was a good day and not too busy, apart from towards the end of the day, when the number of shoppers and diners began to increase (possibly as the schools and work groups started to finish), especially in the lower dining floor areas, but we were just leaving by then anyway, so it was all good. Outside, we braved the humid heat back to the apartment, where we could finally rest our weary, tired feet and see if we had broken any step records…
