We went out a bit later today because we had a few things to sort out and were being a little lazy, if truth be told! However, off we trotted to discover another mall in Kuala Lumpur. Now I am sure you are bored stiff of us and all the malls we visit, but trust me, the heat and humidity are hard to take for too long, so you need to know that you have somewhere to aim for that will have lovely AC once you arrive there! We like walking where possible, so we could just use Grabs if we were really concerned, but hey, we like a bit of a challenge (and a sweat!).

Berjaya Times Square Theme Park

Berjaya Times Square Theme Park is an indoor amusement park on the 5th to 8th floors of Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was conceived as the "largest indoor, all-weather, all ages, entertainment destination in the region" and is the second largest indoor amusement park in Malaysia. Now, before you start to think that we have completely lost our marbles, let me reassure you that we had no intention of going to the theme park part of this mall, even though R could get a discounted senior pass for 35 MYR (£6.45) as opposed to my price of 90 MYR (£16.58).

No, we were there for the shopping and dining part of the mall.

As we have been finding out, it is often quite a palava to get from one side of the street to another in Kuala Lumpur, as there are not as many overhead walkways, and you cannot cut through via the rail and train stations, which is a real pain and annoyance. Anyway, we managed to find our way across into the mall via a side entrance, and we could see that it was quite a large mall

Berjaya Times Square in Bukit Bintang is a massive 48-storey twin tower complex opened in 2003, featuring a major shopping mall, indoor theme park, and hotel. It houses over 1,000 retail shops, offering affordable fashion, electronics, and food, alongside various entertainment options like bowling, archery, and a roller coaster. We did our usual and started to walk around the place. I’m not quite sure what it was, but I was just not ‘feeling it’ in this mall. I don’t know if it was the boring shape of the mall (a giant rectangle of numerous floors), the air conditioning, the types of shops, the lighting in the place, the empty shop spaces in some parts, or the sellers themselves (calling us to look at their goods – which I don’t like), but nothing was really grabbing my attention and enthusiasm. Even the food options in the mall and food court areas were a little disappointing.

Day 57: 20 January 2026

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

R was feeling the same, and so, after a bit of time wandering around, trying to see if things improved, we decided to leave and go back to the nearby Lalaport mall for some dinner. At least there was a nearby nice, covered walkway that took us over the main road and straight into the Lalaport mall, which was great. As soon as we entered Lalaport, we immediately perked up, so I’m not sure if that was because we were going back to our favourite Chinese restaurant or because we like this mall, perhaps it was a combination of both elements!

I had a fabulous fried rice dish again, and R opted for a chicken and rice dish – both were fab. After we had eaten, we had a little wander around before making our way back towards the Berjaya Mall via the nice walkway and then back home to chill.
