Ok, so I have jumped on a few days from the last blog post, but that is mainly because I had two days of downtime to get over the worst of my ‘bug’. Day 1 of the bug was a running nose, which had stopped by day 2, and then it was just a bit of tiredness. After that, I felt almost back to normal, apart from the remnants of a slight cough as my lungs cleared themselves of the mucus and phlegm that had resulted from the infection.

I breathed a sigh of relief that I was much better and could participate in the Christmas Day events. Note: I was still being quite careful to ensure that I didn’t pass anything on to the others, so I kept a bit of distance, refrained from exchanging Christmas kisses, and wore a mask frequently (although I did remove it for the photos).

I had set out the table for Christmas breakfast the night before, and I woke up pretty early, so I decided to just get up and enjoy the sunrise on the balcony on my own. I know some people cannot abide being on their own for long periods of time, but as an introvert, this is no problem for me; in fact, I need it, and if I go too long without it, then I get a little (some may disagree) cranky. It’s my personal recharge time. Thankfully, I think we are all quite similar in this respect in our family, which is just as well. Anyway, I enjoyed a beautiful morning, appreciating what I was taking in with my eyes whilst enjoying a cup of coffee.

Then one by one, the rest of the group emerged, with everyone wishing each other a Merry Christmas. Although it is strange to celebrate Christmas away from home, in a very different environment to what we are used to, we enjoyed the fact that this time we were sharing the occasion with our ‘kids’ again, which was lovely.

We had already decided on what our Christmas Day was going to look like, and that started with a Christmas breakfast in the apartment. So, with silly hats and glasses, we enjoyed our breakfast and exchanged some small gifts.

After this, we walked to One Bangkok to watch a movie. This is something that R and I did last year when it was our first Christmas on our own in a different country. This time around, we opted to see the movie Zootopia. Also, similar to last year, we practically had a private screening of the movie, as I think there was only one other couple in the theatre. The movie was good, and a fun way to remember our Christmas Day.

Afterwards, we went for something to eat from the One Bangkok food court, before heading back to the apartment for a shower and rest.

In the evening, we played some games (cards and heads up mainly), watched telly and snacked on various food items. We also had a video call with Ms A’s Mum, Dad and gran and wished them a Happy Christmas as they were about to head off for their Christmas Dinner.

All in all, a good, but different Christmas Day was had by all.  Merry Christmas, everyone!

We hope all our friends, family, and anyone reading this also had a great Christmas Day.
