Bangkok, Day 18
So we are leaving our first Bangkok Home Exchange tomorrow for a week at a beach resort, but then we will be coming back for another 3 weeks to a different area of Bangkok. So, if you were wondering why we have not covered some other key tourist areas in Bangkok, now you have the answer. We more or less divided our planned activities between our two Home Exchange locations.
7 Dec 2024
Whilst I was not too fussed about where we ended up for the Christmas and New Year period, R was more keen to be in Bangkok for this. So, in organising our arrangements for our next stay, the hosts invited us over to meet them and go over the apartment, as well as get to know the routine of our future housemate, Neko the cat.
Yes dear readers we are going to be house sitting and sharing the apartment with a onetime street cat that is currently on a diet (he is a big 10kg cat!) and he needs to lose 2kg, so I'm sure we're going to be really popular when it comes to dishing out his calorie restricted food! We have been warned that he is very sneaky and he will try to fool us both, so this is going to be an interesting experience and possibly a battle of wits where R and I are going to have to work smart to outwit our feline friend. Watch this space....

Our lovely hosts, Nicole and Harry are off to Hong Kong for a family Christmas (using Home Exchange guest points, so good all round).
The Sathorn Area
According to Google: "Sathorn is a major commercial district with skyscrapers, offices, and upscale condos. On the main thoroughfare, Sathorn Road, vendors with open-air kiosks and pushcarts cater to a lunchtime crowd with pork noodle soup and spring rolls. Longtail boats ply the Chao Phraya River, stopping at busy Sathorn Pier, a commuter hub. By night, back roads draw well-heeled revellers to swanky cocktail lounges, jazz bars, and nightclubs."
After leaving our next Home Exchanges, we had a little walk around the area to get a feel for it and it looks nice, but different to our previous home exchange neighbourhood, so we are very much looking forward to exploring this area.
We also happened to come across a lovely mall type place with various restaurants and a TOPS supermarket (so that will be handy) and it also had a Tops food court. So that was another food card to add to the growing pack, but we couldn't complain as we both got some tasty food to sustain our dwindling energy levels.

Then it was back home to pack our bags and get the apartment cleaned before we departed for our next stop the following day.
