Hello, dear readers!

I don’t know about you, but whenever I come across things in life that stir the emotions (happy or otherwise), my odd brain ends up doing odd associations with TV shows, films, and memes. This usually elicits a chuckle and a grin from me, which makes L wonder what I am on…

So here is the first of a limited series of memes and clip-inspired posts of things that tickled that odd, humorous part of my tiny brain.

This first one is about a classic line from Al Swearengen - a lead character from the HBO series, Deadwood – that jumps into my mind when we hop on/off the klong boats at the Saen Saep Boat Service.

Now, for context, these boats don’t mess about – they come in hot at each stop, pausing briefly at the quay, with the boat handlers skilfully lassoing the mooring bollards, to load and unload passengers in as short a time as possible, and then they are speeding off again. Not for the slow or faint-hearted

Due to the waves and the boat manoeuvring against the currents, the boats are never stationary when you have to get off and on – so it's always an experience and challenge for us tourists, hence me thinking of this meme….

And here it is in the show…

This line also works for some of the pavements too…

Not surprisingly, I don’t actually have any video of us going on or off these boats – are you nuts! That’s one way to deep-six your device to the bottom of the klong. Just take my word for it - every step on and off these is a f###in’ adventure.

Don’t let me put you off these klong boats – they are a great and enjoyable way to get around and an absolute must-do experience when you come to Bangkok.

Heng dai!
